Renewed traditions

In 2021 after a long break of sporting activities in Bulgaria, the possibility for local pilots to conduct badge flights was finally renewed.

After the formation of the Bulgarian Gliding Comity and the translation of the FAI sporting code in Bulgarian, the first Official Observers were trained and certified. Not long after the first badge flights were made renewing this beautiful sporting tradition in Bulgaria.

At the end of 2021 the physical badges were ready. Currently the Bulgarian GC has only silver badges available but hopefully the bulgarian pilots will quickly create the necessity for gold and diamond ones.

In 2022 the first badges were officially handed to the pilots that completed their silver badge flights – Samuil Kazakov and Nikolai Stoyanov. Both pilots managed to cover all 3 silver requirements in 1 flight … although it took them a few attempts 🙂

The newly created Website of the Bulgarian Gliding Commision

….part of the Bulgrian National Aero Club holds a list of all badge holders and also gives the possibility for pilots to declare their flights online. The process of certifying and testing Official Observers has also been automated.
